Colorado Renaissance Festival in Larkspur limits online ticket sales after busy stretch

Here ye, here ye: If you seek to gain entrance into the Colorado Renaissance Festival, you must do so in haste!

As Colorado’s Renaissance Festival in Larkspur experiences a higher-than-normal turnout this year, officials for the annual medieval times festival is limiting its online ticket sales.

Thus, the many royals, knights, jesters and kings must carefully plan their trips back to the 16th century accordingly.

Beginning this weekend, those willing to attend the festival must quickly buy online tickets — a maximum of 15 tickets per purchase — or buy available tickets from the box office or from participating sponsors.

Participating King Soopers locations offer Renaissance Festival tickets on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The Denver Gazette reached out to Renaissance Festival officials Wednesday, who weren’t available for comment.

In a prior statement to Denver Gazette news partner, 9NEWS, organizers said the move is intended to reduce wait times and traffic to “enhance the guest experience.”

Limited online ticket sales follows a heavy influx of visitors to the festival, causing traffic backups in the small town of Larkspur on weekends. The festival is only hosted on weekends and runs through Aug. 3.
