This 300-mile trail in Colorado travels all the way from Estes Park to Glenwood Springs

Looking for a lengthy trail that travels through some of Colorado’s most stunning terrain? Consider this route.
The Northern Colorado Trail spans over 300 miles, stretching from the rugged peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park to the vistas of the Flat Top Wilderness.
Hikers can traverse the trail all the way from Estes Park to Glenwood Springs, travelling 304.4 miles total. According to the trail’s website, its overall ascent is 49,861 feet and the descent is 50,703 feet. The trail’s high point reaches 12,507 feet of elevation.
Hikers can take on the full route or explore one section of the trail. Sections include Dunraven trailhead to Walden, Walden to Highway 40, Highway 40 to Yampa, and Yampa to Glenwood Springs.
The trail takes hikers through a variety of public lands, and while most of the trail doesn’t require any special access, there are some places where hikers might need permits.
