Lush Colorado spot features triple waterfall and hidden caves

With its mysterious caves and stunning triple waterfall, Rifle Falls offers a fantasy-like ambiance that will entrance visitors.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), the triple waterfall is fed by East Rifle Creek and flows year-round. Water cascades from the cliff, showering the moss-covered rocks and vibrant foliage at the base of the falls.

The waterfalls hide an even bigger surprise, too – caves that lurk in the limestone cliffs tucked under the falls. There’s even a 90-foot cave that guests will need a flashlight to explore.

The park has interpretive displays that explain the history, the creation of the limestone, and the other features of the park.

There are also ten picnic tables throughout the park, and they’re all close to the waterfalls. They’re also near short hiking trails and watchable wildlife kiosks.

Visitors can also enjoy three “unique” hiking trails that wind along the creek and among the park’s riparian areas. The trails lead to the caves, the top of the waterfalls, and the creek upstream and downstream from the park.

It’s also worth noting that this trio of waterfalls is super accessible – a short walk from the parking lot for the main view.
