Cyclist dies after being struck by SUV in Aurora

An SUV driver could face charges after a cyclist was killed in a crash early Thursday morning in Aurora, according to Denver Gazette news partner 9NEWS.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. on South Havana Street near East Exposition Avenue, according to Aurora Police.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, was crossing Havana midblock west to east when he was hit by the driver of a Yukon who was headed north on Havana in the third lane.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed and alcohol are being investigated as contributing factors, Aurora Police said. Charges for the SUV are pending investigation.
