Woman dies following e-bike accident on scenic road near Aspen

The death of a part-time resident of Pitkin County is under investigation following a fatal single-electric bicycle accident that took place on Castle Creek Road south of Aspen.

According to the Pitkin County Coroner’s Office, the accident took place on the afternoon of September 1, resulting in the death of Michele Mulrooney Jackoway, 64. Jackoway split her time between Pitkin County and Beverly Hills, California.

Jackoway’s crash occurred near mile marker 6 of the road, with this point of the road located just past the turn-off to Conundrum Creek Road and the popular Conundrum Trailhead.

Jackoway’s cause and manner of death remain under investigation pending an autopsy at last report.
