Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in southwest Denver Friday night.

Police first said they were investigating the scene of a shooting in the 2700 block of South Fenton Street in southwest Denver on social media at 11:45 p.m. Friday, according to a post from the Denver Police Department.

They updated the thread Saturday morning to add that preliminary information indicates that after the suspect shot the victim, officers attempted to contact him before finding him with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Both parties have been pronounced dead from the incident, police say.

Authorities are investigating the incident; the deceased parties will be identified in the coming days by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
