Man arrested in connection to Lone Tree murder

The Lone Tree Police Department arrested a man in connection to the murder of a 57-year-old woman earlier this month.

The department arrested 33-year-old Troy Marcus Reynolds, Jr. on Friday in connection to the murder of Kathleen Mayo at the beginning of September. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, burglary, animal cruelty, menacing and tampering with physical evidence.

Police initially responded to Mayo’s apartment at 10400 Park Meadows Drive around 12 p.m. Sept. 4 for a wellness check, according to a news release from the department.

Upon arrival, officers found Mayo dead inside of the home.

Mayo drove for Uber and Lyft part time, but it’s unclear if there’s any indication that her work was related to her death, according to police.

The department also did not say where the animal cruelty charge came from or if a pet was killed at the home.

The murder is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the department’s tip line at (720) 509-1160.
