Denver man sentenced after being found with over 11 pounds of cocaine, guns

A Denver man was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison after being found with multiples pounds of cocaine and guns in a 2022 bust.

Denver District Court Judge Andrew Luxen sentenced Isaiah Vigil to 18 years in prison on one count of possession with intent to distribute narcotics and one count of violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act, according to a press release from the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Vigil was arrested in the fall of 2022 after an investigation by the Violent Criminal Enterprise Task Force, a partnership between the Denver Police Department and the FBI.

Vigil was one of four suspects in the case, with all pleading guilty and being sentenced within the past year. Ivan Galindo Mancha — the ringleader of the group — was sentenced to 19 years in prison. Alan Ugues-Mancha and Gerardo Salazar were sentenced to 16 years, according to the release.

When the four were arrested, police found more than 11 pounds of cocaine, 13 guns, and more than $120,000 in cash that was believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Vigil pleaded guilty to the charges in July.

“The heavy sentences imposed on these four men ensures that they will not be able to peddle dangerous drugs on the streets of Denver,” District Attorney John Walsh said in the release.

“The sentences highlight the thorough and exemplary work of our investigators and law enforcement partners in holding these offenders responsible,” Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said. “This is just one example of the outstanding and exhaustive efforts members of the Denver Police Department apply daily to ensure the safety of our city.”
