Clear Creek County Sheriff’s deputies searching for shuttle bus snatchers in Colorado
Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office (CCCSO) deputies are searching for the suspects involved in the stealing of multiple shuttle buses, one of which hit an Idaho Springs Police vehicle, Friday afternoon.
The incident began Friday morning when authorities were chasing a stolen vehicle driving westbound on Interstate 70, a spokesperson from CCCSO said.
Deputies stopped the pursuit near Georgetown because it was too dangerous, the official added.
That stolen vehicle, a shuttle bus, was reportedly then dumped in the town before the suspects stole another shuttle bus, this time a Georgetown Roundabout, and used it to drive east on I-70.
While driving on I-70, the shuttle bus hit an Idaho Springs Police vehicle that was on the scene of a crash that had closed the express and left lanes of the interstate the CCCSO said on social media Friday afternoon.
There have been no injuries reported from the stolen vehicles or the crash so far, authorities confirmed.
The Roundabout bus was found abandoned in Denver at around 1:20 p.m. Friday, the office reported. The left two lanes of the interstate reopened about 15 minutes later; eastbound traffic had backed up for about 4 miles before the reopening.
Authorities currently do not have any information on the suspects.
