A man was arrested in Georgetown on Thursday on multiple charges related to two shooting incidents in Clear Creek County, the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office said Monday in a statement.

According to the CCCSO, just before 3 p.m., Thursday deputies responded to reports of shots fired at the Western Inn Mobile Home Park in the 2600 block of Clear Creek County Road 308. When deputies arrived, they discovered multiple shots had been fired into one of the residential units on the property. Two victims were inside the home when the shots were fired; neither were injured, police said.

According to the CCCSO, the male suspect, Justin Sanders aged 34, was reported to have left the area on foot. Deputies issued a shelter in place order and temporarily closed the Interstate 70 frontage road from I-70 mile marker 235 (Dumont exit) to mile marker 232 (Empire/Hwy 40 exit) while they searched for the suspect.

Idaho Springs Police and a K-9 unit from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) assisted with the search, police said. During the search, deputies received new information that the suspect may be in Georgetown. Deputies responded to Georgetown at 4:45 p.m., and located a vehicle of interest in the parking lot of the Georgetown Lodge.

According to the CCCSO, at the Lodge, deputies learned a male suspect had recently fired shots from the balcony of a second-floor room towards a victim standing below in the parking lot. The victim was not injured.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and was identified as Justin Sanders, police said. Detectives confirmed he was also the suspect in the shooting at the Western Inn. An associate of the suspect was briefly detained but was released when it was determined he was not involved in either shooting.

Sanders remains in custody on $250,000 bail, pending charges that include:

• Attempt First Degree Murder (2 counts)
• Attempt Second Degree Homicide
• Prohibited Use of a Weapon
• Possessing and Discharging a Firearm while Under the Influence of Alcohol
  The 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office will determine final charges. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven otherwise through the judicial process.
