Broncos vs. New York Giants | The Denver Gazette’s picks

The Denver Gazette sports staff predicts Sunday’s game between the Broncos and the New York Giants at Empower Field at Mile High:

Paul Klee’s pick: Broncos 17, Giants 13

With Peyton Manning and the “No Fly Zone” reuniting Sunday, it’s helpful to remember it wasn’t No. 18’s high-flying offense that won a Super Bowl. It was an all-time defense — like the one developing now — that sealed the deal.

Overall record: 5-1

Chris Schmaedeke’s pick: Broncos 20, Giants 12

With the 2015 Broncos defense in the house, the 2025 unit dominates the Giants. For some reason, Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart challenges Patrick Surtain, and it goes poorly for the rookie. The reigning DPOY gets a pick-six in the win.

Overall record: 3-3

Chris Tomasson’s pick: Broncos 24, Giants 13

After beating the Jets last week, the Broncos can claim the championship of New York City, or at least New Jersey, since the Jets and Giants both play there. Jaxson Dart has looked good in his three starts, but Broncos defenders salivate when they see a rookie quarterback. They sacked No. 1 pick Cam Ward of Tennessee six times in the season opener.

Overall record: 4-2

Mark Kiszla’s pick: Broncos 24, Giants 13

New York quarterback Jaxson Dart is young and cocky, but he doesn’t want any of this smoke. Watch that chain on your neck, Jaxson. Aqib Talib will be in the stadium, and he might snatch it.

Overall record: 5-1

Kyle Fredrickson’s pick: Broncos 17, Giants 13

It doesn’t have to be pretty. Denver struggles (again) to find rhythm offensively and gets bailed out by a strong defensive performance. Winning is a skill. The Broncos are learning how to do it.

Overall record: 4-2
