Man charged with attempted murder in stabbing of Thornton teacher

A man was charged with attempted murder and assault Tuesday in connection with the stabbing of a teacher in Thornton last week.

Damien Brooks, 31, allegedly stabbed an adult male teacher outside Meadow Community School teacher around 3 p.m. last Thursday, according to news releases from the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the Thornton Police Department. The teacher, who works at the school, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries stemming from the incident.

Investigators have not yet shared what they know about the circumstances leading up to the attack and do not know of any relationship between the teacher and the alleged assailant, according to the Thornton release.

Brooks first appeared in Adams County Court Tuesday afternoon.
