Denver weather: Breezy Thursday as cold front passes through Colorado

The wind will blow Thursday, especially in the Colorado mountains where gusts could range from 55-70 mph, but around metro Denver and the eastern plains, gusts are possible between 30-50 mph.

Denverites can expect partly sunny skies in town today, with a high near 68, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It’ll be breezy, with a southwest wind between 9 to 14 mph, becoming west northwest between 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.

Tonight it’ll be mostly clear, with a low around 36. Light and variable winds become south southeast between 5 to 7 mph in the evening.

Continued cooling on Friday and into the weekend is forecast as high temperatures drop into the 50s. No precipitation for metro Denver is forecast, however.

Next week starts off warm again and will stay that way for several days heading into mid-month.

Here’s the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 56. North northeast wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 51.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.
