Former Denver elementary school paraprofessional charged with enticement of a child
A former paraprofessional at a Denver elementary school was charged with enticing a child in March and April of this year.
Michael Digiacomo, 47, faces felony charges of enticement of a child and internet luring of a child, according to a Wednesday news release from the Thornton Police Department. The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office brought the criminal counts.
Digiacomo was working as a paraprofessional at Welby Community School when the incidents reportedly took place, between March 13 and April 3 of this year, according to the release. He was placed on administrative leave on April 3 and fired on May 29.
The school is part of the Mapleton Public School District, which is made up of 20 schools including Academy High School, the Global Academies and Monterey Community School, according to the organization’s website.
“We take any allegation involving the safety of our youth very seriously,” Thornton Police Chief Jim Baird said in the release. “We will continue to work closely with our partners at Mapleton Public Schools and the DA’s Office to make sure the community is informed and supported as this case moves forward.”
Authorities believe Digiacomo may have been previously employed by other metro area school districts, and they are encouraging any additional victims or those with relevant information to come forward and contact the Thornton Police Department tip line at (720) 977-5069.
