Red Rocks Community College counsels small business entrepreneurs
The Colorado Small Business Development Center is moving its Denver area services to Red Rocks Community College, the school announced earlier this week.
Founded in 1987, the SBDC is Colorado’s only nationally accredited, go-to resource for entrepreneurs and business owners, according to the press release. The center offers 14 Service Centers and 25 Satellite Centers served by 300 business experts.
Services include advice, services, training, and networking for small businesses and are offered at no cost.
Red Rocks Community College has campuses in Lakewood and Arvada. The locations will allow the SBDC to expand its services and capabilities in nurturing small business growth, according to the statement.
“We believe strong communities are built by strong local businesses,” Matthew Sweeney, the school’s dean of Workforce Services, said in the release.
“Hosting the Colorado SBDC Metro Denver location aligns perfectly with our mission to connect education, entrepreneurship, workforce and opportunity to help small business owners.”
Small business boost
Hannah W. Krieger, the center’s state SBDC State Director, said that the collaboration with the school would boost small businesses in the metro area.
“By partnering with Red Rocks Community College, we are embedding the Colorado SBDC directly within a dynamic learning environment,” Krieger said in the release.
“We are excited to deepen our community support and work together to accelerate growth and spark significant business momentum for local entrepreneurs and businesses,” she added.
The school said that the presence of SBDC on campus would complement the college’s existing services offered through an entrepreneurship center, where students receive support to get business ideas off the ground.
The SBDC’s new presence contributed to Red Rocks Community College having been awarded a Community Partner Gateway Award from the Jeffco Economic Development Corporation, according to the statement. The award recognizes the school’s workforce initiatives and its entrepreneurship center.
The center is open for business and is actively seeking clients, the statement said.
“When an entrepreneur or small business owner needs confidential help or advice, like navigating economic uncertainty, or when looking to strengthen their business plan to pursue new funding, they can turn to their local Colorado SBDC,” it noted.
The campuses are at 13300 W. 6th Avenue, Lakewood, and at 10280 W. 55th Avenue in Arvada. Small businesses and entrepreneurs in the metro Denver can reach out for support via email at info@denversbdc.org, or can arrange an appointment at 303-914-6239.
