Grand Junction Central High School wrestling team in crash in Lakewood
LAKEWOOD. — Members of the Grand Junction Central High School wrestling team were taken to a hospital after their bus was involved in a Denver area crash Saturday night, according to a news release from Mesa County School District 51.
Lakewood Police said the crash involving two vehicles happened around 7:33 p.m. at West 6th Avenue and Kipling Street.
The school district said students and coaches were on the bus following a wrestling tournament when the crash took place. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and everyone on board was taken to hospitals in the area.
Occupants from the other vehicle involved were also taken to the hospital. Police said they are still working to determine how many people were in each vehicle, and the severity of everyone’s injuries.
