Broncos WR Marvin Mims named AFC special teams player of the week

The first punt return for a touchdown in the three-year career of Marvin Mims Jr. earned him Wednesday the award for AFC special teams player of the week.

The Broncos wide receiver returned a second-quarter punt 48 yards for a touchdown in their 24-17 win last Sunday at Las Vegas. The score gave Denver the lead for good at 14-7.

Mims in the game also had two kickoff returns for 39 yards. It marks the third time in his career that Mims has won AFC special teams player of the week.

Mims is fourth in the NFL with a punt-return average of 16.4 yards while also averaging 26.3 yards per kickoff return.
