News Nuggets: Holiday light recycling, ugly sweater run
RECYCLE HOLIDAY LIGHTS FOR FREE
Don’t toss those tangled strings of old holiday lights. Recycle them for free. Drop off unwanted light strings and wires for incandescent, LED and “icicle” lights at two locations in the metro area, through Jan. 2.
Strings with the bulbs still attached are acceptable. However, bubble (liquid-filled) or neon lights are not.

UGLY SWEATER 5K
Get into the holiday spirit with the Ugly Sweater 5K – the more hideous the bows and candy canes, the better. The ugliness begins at 9 a.m. Dec. 21, in Washington Park, 1000 S. Franklin St.
The race will be staged from Mount Vernon Garden. Lot parking is available at South High School, while streetside parking is available around the park.
