Robin Niceta released on probation

A former Arapahoe County child-protective worker has been released on parole from her four-year prison sentence related to her conviction of making up a report of child abuse against an Aurora city councilwoman.

Robin Niceta, 43, was assigned an out-of-state parolee status after spending a year and a half in prison, according to the Colorado Department of Corrections website.

She was arrested and accused in 2022 of an anonymous phone tip suggesting that Danielle Jurinsky, then an Aurora city councilwoman, sexually abused her son. Jurinsky was cleared of the allegations.

Prosecutors alleged Niceta targeted Jurinsky for retaliation the day after Jurinsky went on a podcast and criticized Vanessa Wilson, who at that time was the Aurora police chief. Niceta and Wilson were dating at that time. A jury convicted Niceta in May 2024.

Jurinsky, in a post on the social media platform X, criticized the parole release of Niceta.

“Many argue that the sentence was insufficient, highlighting the need for justice reform in Colorado,” Jurinsky said.

Niceta also pleaded guilty to separate criminal charges related to her faking cancer in a failed attempt to avoid prosecution for making the false child abuse allegations.

A judge sentenced her in March to three years’ probation for the charges related to faking cancer.
