Denver police arrest teen suspect in fatal New Year’s Eve hit-and-run

Denver police arrested an 18-year-old man Wednesday suspected of hitting and killing a pedestrian on Federal Boulevard in the final hour of 2025.

Raul Villa Martinez faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash after he allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian crossing south Federal Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk, according to social media posts by the Denver Police Department and a probable cause affidavit provided to 9News.

The crash took place in the 1200 block of South Federal Boulevard just after 11 p.m. Dec. 31, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital, and later pronounced dead.
