Kansas coach Bill Self hospitalized ahead of game at Colorado
The Kansas Jayhawks will play in Boulder on Tuesday, but Hall of Fame coach Bill Self will not be there.
Self did not travel to Boulder for the No. 19 Jayhawks’ game against Colorado at 9 p.m. on ESPN, according to KU.
“Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self felt under the weather earlier today, and, out of an abundance of caution, was taken to LMH Health where he received IV fluids. He is feeling better but did not accompany the team to Boulder,” Kansas said in a statement.
Self, 63, who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017, has experienced several health issues in recent years. Self and Colorado coach Tad Boyle are close friends.
KU assistant Jacque Vaughn is expected to serve as acting head coach.
Colorado (12-6 overall, 2-3 Big 12) has lost three straight, while No. 19 Kansas (13-5, 3-2) returned to the AP Top 25 after beating No. 2 Iowa State and Baylor.
