Nikola Jokic named starter for NBA All-Star game, Nuggets star’s eighth selection
Nikola Jokic’s resume once again needs updating.
Jokic was selected as an All-Star for the eighth time when the starters were announced Monday. Whether Jokic participates is another story. He hasn’t played since suffering a bone bruise in his left knee on Dec. 29.
The Western Conference’s other starters are Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Lakers guard Luka Doncic, Warriors guard Stephen Curry and Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama.
Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, Boston’s Jaylen Brown, Philadelphia’s Tyrese Maxey, Detroit’s Cade Cunningham and New York’s Jalen Brunson were selected as the starters for the Eastern Conference.
Starters were selected by a vote with 50% coming from fans, while players and media split the other half of the vote. Reserves will be selected by NBA coaches at a later date.
The All-Star Game has a new format this year with two teams made up of players from the United States and one international team competing in a three-team tournament on Feb. 15 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
