It hasn’t been the best of times, not even close, for the Colorado Rockies but no matter what, it’s the love of baseball. Think new season, some new leadership and Rockies Fest, leading up to the spring training in Scottsdale. It’s from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Players will be there for autograph sessions and popular Rockies great Larry Walker is a highlight. Also featured, Silver Slugger Hunter Goodman and top prospect Ethan Holliday and the coaches. There’s a golf simulator, garage sale, Family Feud, baseball card show and tour of Coors Field. A popular fun weekend at Colorado ski and outdoor-events towns moves to Estes Park Friday through Sunday. Cheer the competitors in Estes Park Skijor as skiers, pulled by riders on horseback, race through a rugged obstacle course with jumps. The National Western Stock Show’s Grand Champion Steer goes High Society in the 80-year Steer Day tradition, visiting the atrium inside the stately Brown Palace Hotel while guests have an elegant afternoon tea. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, watch the steer as he makes an arrival down the red carpet along with the Grand Reserve Steer. Guests can shoot a photo each of the Old West stars. Musical memories fill Buell Theatre in the Denver Performing Arts Complex during “The Simon & Garfunkel Story,” which includes the duo’s memorable “The Concert in Central Park” reunion in 1981 with a crowd of half a million. Almost 30 of their memorable songs are set to video projection and original film footage. Hear their hits with a live band, including “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Mrs. Robinson,” “Homeward Bound” and so many more.
