Colorado Mesa’s Olivia Reed Thyne breaks RMAC scoring record in win over Chadron State | Colorado Sunshine

Where good news shines

The No. 9 Colorado Mesa women’s basketball team overcomes a slow start to pick up a 70-41 win over Chadron State on Saturday in Brownson Arena.

Olivia Reed Thyne’s free throw with 8:55 remaining in the fourth quarter gave her the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference all-time scoring record. She raised her career total to 2,003 at that point, breaking the 24-year-old record of 2,002 that had stood since 2002 (New Mexico Highlands’ Becky Gonzales).

Reed Thyne then added seven more points down the stretch.

She finished the game with 23 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. The total puts her at 2,010 career points.
