Colorado State’s first Pac-12 football schedule announced
Colorado State’s first venture in the new-look Pac-12 has been laid out.
While we’ve known for months that the coach Jim Mora era will begin in exciting fashion with a Border War matchup against Wyoming on Sept. 5 at Canvas Stadium, the Rams’ first Pac-12 game will officially take place Oct. 3 against Oregon State in Fort Collins.
“We are excited for the 2026 season and to be a part of the new Pac-12. It has always been a prominent and well-respected league and we’re looking forward to building off its rich history,” Mora said in a release. “Having seven home games means seven opportunities to play in front of our great fans in Canvas Stadium with an amazing home-field advantage.”
Before conference play begins, the Rams have three of four nonconference games at home, including the season opener against the rival Cowboys and a much-anticipated visit from BYU in Week 3. A trip to San Antonio to face UTSA concludes nonconference play and the Rams begin Pac-12 play against the Beavers, a team they played recently in 2024, on the first weekend of October.
From there, CSU will have its only bye week of the season before making a first trip to San Marcos, Texas, to face Texas State for the first time in program history.
That will be followed by three-straight games against former Mountain West foes: vs. San Diego State, at Utah State and vs. Boise State.
After back-to-back road games against Washington State and Fresno State, the Rams will face an opponent to be determined later in the final week of the regular season, something the Pac-12 is calling a “flex” matchup that will be against a conference opponent but will not count toward the Pac-12 standings.
That matchup Nov. 28 will be a repeat matchup considering there are only eight football programs in the conference, but is a guaranteed home game for the Rams and is tentatively set to be against Texas State. The Pac-12 retains “the right to adjust the matchup based on the best interests of the league, including College Football Playoff (CFP) considerations at that time.”
CSU has also announced themes for three of the seven home games on the calendar. Week 1 vs. Wyoming will be Military Appreciation Day and a Stripe Out at Canvas Stadium, while the popular Ag Day featuring alternate orange uniforms will be in Week 2 vs. Southern Utah and homecoming and family weekend is set for the Pac-12 opener vs. Oregon State.
“The Pac-12 era is here for Colorado State, and we are excited to host seven home football games on campus. I am so excited for the 2026 Rams football team, coach Mora and the football staff to experience game day in Canvas Stadium,” athletic director John Weber said in a release. “Ram Country is special and the seven home games are great opportunities not only for our team, but also for the university and the community to come together as one to support each other.
“Home-field advantage is real and when our students, campus, alumni, and community gather together, Colorado State is powerful! We are once again working extremely hard on the fan experience before, during and after the games this season as we celebrate 10 years of Canvas Stadium.”
