Colorado to Italy: Colorado Springs pairs figure skaters Ellie Kam, Danny O’Shea in 7th after short program

Tracking Colorado athletes at the Winter Olympics

– Colorado Springs pairs figure skaters Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea scored 71.87 points in the short program, ranking seventh. They are seeking a second gold medal after helping Team USA to a win in the team event.

The pairs leader is the German team of Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin at 80.01 points.

The free skating portion of the competition will be Monday at noon.

– 17-year-old Oliver Martin (Vail) sits in sixth place after two qualifying runs in the snowboard men’s slopestyle as he seeks a first Olympic medal.

Mikaela Shiffrin (Edwards) placed seventh in the alpine skiing women’s giant slalom, extending the Olympic medal drought for one of the best in the sport’s history.

Stacy Gaskill (Golden) teamed with Nathan Pare in the mixed team snowboard cross on Sunday, but the pair did not finish their quarterfinal run and were eliminated.
