Colorado to Italy: Colorado Springs figure skaters Ellie Kam, Danny O’Shea close Games with 9th-place pairs finish

Tracking Coloradans in the Olympic Games

– Colorado Springs figure skaters Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea slid to ninth place in the pairs competition that concluded Monday.

They were in seventh after Sunday’s short program, but their score of 122.71 ranked 12th among teams in the free skate. Kam and O’Shea finished two spots behind fellow Americans Emily Chan and Spencer Akira Howe.

The pair from Olympic City USA certainly didn’t go home empty-handed, having already won gold in the team event.

– Women’s figure skating begins Tuesday, with Alyssa Liu and Amber Glenn, both of whom have trained in Colorado Springs, competing for Team USA. The short program begins at 10:45 a.m.

Niklas Malacinski (Steamboat Springs) will be in action Tuesday morning in the Nordic combined individual large hill. Finals are slated for 5:45 a.m.
