Broncos expected to hire Ronald Curry as wide receivers coach, source says

The Broncos are hiring Ronald Curry as their next wide receivers coach, a source confirmed Thursday to The Denver Gazette.

Curry, 46, spent the last two seasons as the quarterbacks coach for Josh Allen with the Buffalo Bills. Curry previously interviewed for the offensive coordinator vacancy in Denver that was filled by Davis Webb. The Broncos wide receivers job opened after the team parted ways with Keary Colbert.

Broncos coach Sean Payton and Curry are reunited in Denver after coaching together in New Orleans. Curry was the Saints wide receivers coach (2018-20) and quarterbacks coach (2021) under Payton.

The Broncos wide receiver corps struggled with drops last season. Payton has expressed public confidence in the returning group — “I like the players we have in that room,” he said — but upgrades are likely coming in either free agency or the NFL draft.

Wide receiver Courtland Sutton led the Broncos with 74 receptions, 1,017 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

Briefly

The Broncos have re-signed practice squad wide receiver Michael Bandy, according to a report from 9News. … Former Broncos general manager Neal Dahlen has died, the team announced Wednesday. He was 85. Dahlen was the Broncos’ director of player personnel during their first two Super Bowl titles. He also served as general manager (1999-2001). Dahlen won five Super Bowls with the 49ers.
