Young woman found dead in Commerce City with ‘head trauma’

Police in Commerce City are investigating what they have classified as a homicide after a woman was found dead early Thursday morning.

Commerce City Police first said in a social media post that a passer-by found the young woman dead on a sidewalk with “apparent head trauma” around 4:30 a.m. Thursday in the 6200 block of Glencoe Street.

A spokesperson for the department later confirmed that officers are investigating the case as a homicide and the passer-by has been cooperative with police. They could not be more specific about the type of head trauma, nor did they answer whether or not the department has identified a suspect.

The address provided by police is the same as that of the Rowhomes at Greyhound Park, a townhome development just west of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area as investigators are working on the scene.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
