Denver Summit FC unveils inaugural kit
Denver Summit FC on Monday unveiled its first ever primary kit that the club will wear during its inaugural season in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Fans lined up to get their hands on the “Evergreen Kit,” which was introduced at Union Station and modeled by center back Kaleigh Kurtz and forward Ally Brazier.
“It was amazing,” Kurtz said of the fan turnout. “But I was also like, do you guys not have 9-to-5s? It’s really cool to see so many people backing us in this city.”
A performance by members of the Colorado Symphony added to the vibe, as VIP guests sipped on mimosas and enjoyed breakfast pastries, taking a moment to mark a major milestone in club history.
“Every single thing that’s been a part of this franchise has been a whirlwind, to be honest,” controlling owner Rob Cohen told reporters. “It was just a year ago that we were awarded a franchise and everything that’s been created since then all had to happen in the last 12 months.”

The team’s new jersey is primarily a “rich evergreen green” inspired by Colorado’s pine forests, the club said.
Brazier, originally from Colorado, was complimentary of the team’s new look.
“I’d rather be in a very nice-looking kit than an ugly kit,” Brazier said. “The colors and the coordination of it is really good.”
The kit also has light blue and sage accents, drawing on colors from Colorado’s sky and high desert plains, the club said. The shorts are also mostly evergreen, and the socks are light blue to round out the look.
“Getting the crest right, getting the colors right, that was something we spent a lot of time, we had a lot of fan involvement, a lot of feedback from the community about what they were interested in and what they wanted,” Cohen said. “Hopefully we’ve come up with a kit and a color and a crest that the fans love.”
One thing that was missing, however, was a front-of-jersey sponsor — common among soccer teams and an important source of revenue for clubs. But, Cohen said to stay tuned on that detail.
“We will have a front of shirt sponsor,” Cohen said. “I was hoping to have one for today but couldn’t get all the t’s crossed and i’s dotted, but that will just be another first that we’ll get to celebrate.”

Another one of those firsts on the horizon is the club’s first home match, scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at Empower Field at Mile High against the Washington Spirit.
Denver Summit FC last week announced it had sold more than 45,000 tickets for the home opener and had opened up the upper bowl to sell even more seats. The ticket sales put Denver in a position to break the single-game NWSL attendance record of 40,091, set last year by Bay FC in a match played at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
“I just knew the passion that was in this community and the people would come out,” Cohen said. “Now we just gotta pray we don’t have the blizzard of the century on March 28 and that the fans all show up because I don’t want to just break the record. I want to set a record that will stand forever, that will be a testament to this community.”
Summit FC opens its NWSL season on the road at Bay FC on March 14. The 4:30 p.m. match will be televised live on ION, Denver7/The Spot Denver 3.
