DU’s Sara Rask sets Pioneers skiing record with 19th career race victory | Colorado Sunshine
Where good news shines
Sara Rask is one of one.
A graduate student with the University of Denver skiing program, Rask on Monday set a Pioneers record with her 19th race victory when she won the women’s giant slalom at the RMISA Alpine Qualifier at Utah Olympic Park.
Rask broke a tie with Roberta Pergher in the DU record books. Pergher won 18 races from 1996-98 and was inducted into the DU Athletics Hall of Fame.
A Stockholm, Sweden, native, Rask said: “It’s an amazing honor to have. It’s been an exciting time here at Denver — all the memories around all of the races and all of the wins and even all the bad results. It’s been very fun and I’m happy about it.”
Rask’s win was her fourth of the current season. Seven of her career wins have come in giant slalom. She’s been named most valuable skier in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association four times.
