Impending free-agent defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers is planning to move on after two seasons with the Broncos.

A source said Thursday that Denver is not looking to re-sign Franklin-Myers, who will become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday. The source said there have been no contract discussions about the Broncos bringing him back.

Franklin-Myers, 29, had a career-high 7.5 sacks last season in his eighth NFL year.

Franklin-Myers’ departure would be no surprise. The Denver Gazette reported last July that the Broncos had no plans to approach him before last season about a contract extension. Franklin-Myers then said throughout the season and after it that there had been no contract discussions with Denver.

The Broncos acquired Franklin-Myers in April 2024 from the New York Jets for a 2026 sixth-round pick. He then signed a renegotiated two-year, $15 million contract.

Franklin-Myers is looking to sign a three- or four-year deal with a new team. He is likely to more than double the annual average salary of $7.5 million he made in his two Denver seasons.

A big deal signed by Franklin-Myers could result in the Broncos getting a third- or fourth-round compensatory pick.

It remains to be seen how the Broncos would replace Franklin-Myers on the defensive line. In-house candidates include Eyioma Uwazurike and Sai’vion Jones. But more obviously will be known after free agency and the draft.
