4 injured in snowy, 3-vehicle I-70 crash near Genesee Friday
Four people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 70 in near Genesee Friday evening.
The crash, which took place just before 6 p.m., was a rear-end collision involving a Dodge Durango and Chevy Silverado, as well as the semi-truck hauling a trailer, Colorado State Patrol said in a news release.
All four people were taken to a local hospital with the extent of their injuries unknown, CSP said. There were no other injuries reported in the crash.
The interstate was closed for about an hour and a half in the eastbound direction while crews responded to the scene, according to the release.
After a paltry winter, areas south and west of Denver, including Jefferson County, received up to a foot of snow throughout the day Friday, according to the National Weather Service. In the release, CSP urged drivers to delay travel or leave extra space between their vehicles while icy and snow-packed conditions were prevalent.
