Some areas across Colorado see more than a foot of snow

Colorado has seen some of its most significant snowfall this season within the past day, with some areas seeing more than a foot of fresh powder.

According to mapping from the National Weather Service (NWS) for the past 24 hours, the highest accumulation of snow occurred in the southern and central mountains, with the highest totals reaching up to 24 inches. The Sawatch and San Juan mountain ranges saw significant snowfall, with totals reaching between four and 18 inches, and some peaks getting up to 24 inches.

The NWS also reported that areas along the Interstate 70 mountain corridor saw heavier totals, including Berthoud Pass, which saw 15 inches, and Loveland Pass, which saw 10 inches.

Denver saw its first snowfall in weeks, with totals across the area ranging from three to nine inches.
