2 cars ‘crushed’ after parking garage collapses in southeast Denver
Two cars were crushed — though no injuries were reported — after a southeast Denver parking garage collapsed Monday afternoon.
Authorities currently believe the garage, at 3600 S. Yosemite St., just west of Cherry Creek Reservoir, collapsed when a structural girder gave way around 4 p.m. Monday, said Denver Fire Operations Division Chief Robert Murphy.
Photos provided by the department show several cars tilted at various angles while parked on cracked and uneven pavement atop the garage. Several chunks of the surface had entirely fallen into the garage level below.

As of 4:39 p.m., there have been no other reported injuries or damage besides the two totaled vehicles, with the owners of both being accounted for, the department said on social media. Murphy described the collapse as located to just one part of the building.
Once the department finishes its search, it will turn the situation over to engineers affiliated with the building’s management, who will work to help recover other vehicles trapped in the garage, Murphy said.
