Wildfire contained in Yuma County, Highway 36 reopens

A wildfire that broke out near Highway 36 by Idalia, in eastern Colorado, on Saturday night has been contained.

The Yuma County Office of Emergency Management posted on Saturday night that there was a large fire near Highway 36 by Idalia, close to the Yuma County/Cheyenne County line in eastern Colorado near the Kansas border.

The fire caused Highway 36 to close near the intersection of Highway 385 and Highway 36 to the state line.

In an update, the Yuma County Office of Emergency Management posted that the fire was contained and that crews would continue monitoring the area and working on an remaining hot spots. In another update, it was announced that Highway 36 is now open.
