I-70 reopened after crash involving about 70 vehicles
Interstate 70 reopened Tuesday night after a crash involving approximately 70 vehicles just east of the Eisenhower Tunnel, Colorado State Patrol Said.
In a news release just before 5 p.m., Colorado State Patrol said that 19 people were being taken to the hospital with varying injuries from the crash, and that there have been no fatalities reported at this time. In a follow-up statement, authorities added that eight of those people were hospitalized, and one suffered serious bodily injuries.

After the crash occurred just before 3 p.m., the interstate was closed in both directions, though the westbound closure was due to an unrelated incident involving a pickup truck and a trailer that jack-knifed, CSP said. The westbound direction reopened to traffic around 5 p.m.,
As of 9 p.m., the eastbound direction had also reopened to traffic, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Those driving eastbound were rerouted onto U.S. 6 over Loveland Pass to rejoin the interstate past the Eisenhower Tunnel, CDOT said in a Tuesday evening news release.
The area received snowfall Monday night into Tuesday, with Vail seeing about half an inch of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service.
