Denver weather: Red Flag Warning for the fourth day in a row

Yet again, Denver will receive a Red Flag Warning for fire danger.

The National Weather Service said to expect a high near 71 in Denver today. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.

The critical fire danger continues due to the warm temperatures, strong winds, and unusually low humidity. With wind reaching upwards of 30 mph, forecasters deem Denver and the entire eastern half of the state ripe for wildfire spread.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” the weather service said.

Saturday should end the streak of critical fire danger. With temperatures cooling and rain becoming more likely as the weekend progresses, forecasters predict a much-needed break from the overly dry conditions.

From tomorrow until next Thursday, the Denver area will have a chance of precipitation. The biggest chance is on Sunday. The weather service reports the odds of rain showers at 80%.

Tonight, expect a low of around 34 and for the winds to remain moderately breezy.
