NWS images show where big snow is expected on major highways around Colorado

With big snow expected to hit Colorado over the next couple of days, here’s a look at how a few major roads around the state will be impacted.

To start with I-70, the National Weather Service is calling for about 13 to 22 inches of snow in the area of the Eisenhower Tunnel from Monday night through Wednesday night, with double-digit totals possible along much of this road. Even Denver could get some decent snowfall and depending on how fast it falls, there could be some impacts – about three to seven inches of snow are expected along I-70 in the Mile High City.

It’s also likely that I-25 will see some impacts, too, particularly along the stretch of road between Denver and Colorado Springs – about seven to 12 inches of snow is expected on this road’s high point at Monument Hill.

Those trying to get to Estes Park may also run into issues along US 36. A total of 11 to 19 inches of snow is expected in this part of the state along this route.

While totals will be fairly limited along US 285 compared to I-70 – which is found a bit to the north – totals of up to 15 inches of snow in Conifer could be problematic.
