Sailboat capsizes at Chatfield Reservoir

Emergency crews responded to a water rescue at Chatfield Reservoir after a sailboat capsized Sunday afternoon.

South Metro Fire and Colorado Parks and Wildlife responded to the incident and assisted occupants into a CPW boat, according to authorities.

South Metro crews remained at the scene to evaluate those involved for any potential medical needs. There are no reported injuries at this time.

Units not directly involved in the response were cleared and returned to service. Officials said the incident was turned over to Chatfield Park Rangers.

Authorities are reminding the public to prioritize safety while recreating on open water and encourage all boaters to wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device.
