Family killed in Thornton identified by coroner

A family killed in what officials described as a triple murder-suicide have been identified.

The Adams County Coroner’s office identified the deceased family as David Robert Nelimark, 53, May Gnia Nelimark, 49, Asher Kieth Kub Nelimark, 13, and Joey King Vue, 33. The shooting happened May 22, and police said Vue shot and killed the others before dying by suicide.

The Thornton Police Department said on social media early Saturday that officers were called at about 8 p.m. to the 13900 block of Harrison Street after a family member reported that there may be multiple unresponsive people inside the home.

When officers arrived, all four were found inside, “obviously deceased” from gunshot wounds.

The coroner’s office said the cause and manner of death is still under investigation. The relationship between the victims is unclear, though Thornton police described the suspect and victims as being family members.

The Denver Gazette requested the police report on the incident from Thornton police, but the department denied the request due to “ongoing investigation.”

A GoFundMe has been started to raise money for a memorial and to benefit the elder Nelimark son.
