1 killed in house fire in Jefferson County

One person died Saturday morning after their house caught fire in Jefferson County.

West Metro Fire said crews responded just after midnight to a duplex on Vivian Street, near 14th Avenue after a neighbor called 911 to report smoke coming from the garage. After firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house.

Three people were inside, and two were able to escape. A person sleeping upstairs was not able to get out on their own. Firefighters were able to bring them out of the home, but they did not survive.

Two firefighters involved in the incident were hospitalized with minor injuries. They were later released. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
