Colorado Department of Corrections temporarily suspends visitation statewide
The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) said Sunday it has temporarily suspended visitation at all its facilities starting immediately.
CDOC has inmates at 21 facilities across Colorado, according to its website.
The temporarily suspended visitation comes after an incident at the Bent County Correctional Facility on Saturday evening, according to a spokesperson for CDOC. Two offenders died and a third offender was transported to an outside medical facility for treatment. No staff members were hurt, and there is no active threat to the community, according to CDOC.
“The facility remains on lockdown status, and all system-wide visitation has been suspended until further notice,” CDOC said in a statement to 9NEWS. “Further updates will be issued only through the proper investigative channels as verified information becomes available.”
