Documentary covers Colorado man’s 500-mile-run to Moab while on psychedelics

There are many outdoor recreation-related documentaries out there, but one that’s set to be released soon is sure to be one-of-a-kind.

The documentary, Dante: 500 Miles on Psychedelics, covers Dante Liberato’s 500-mile run from Manitou Springs, Colorado to Moab, Utah over the course of 11 days. The kicker? Liberato was consuming LSD and psilocybin mushrooms the whole way.

“A man runs 500 miles through the desert using psychedelics to test his limits,” reads the IMDB description of the film. “Battling inner demons and harsh terrain, he seeks redemption while proving human potential is boundless and challenging stigma around unconventional healing.”

When he’s not out running, Liberato runs a martial arts gym in Manitou Springs called The Den, according to a report from The Colorado Sun. At his gym, he blends more-typical martial arts training with “a holistic approach to growth.” He also founded an app called Couchmilk with aims to make a similar strategy multi-tiered train strategy available to a more widespread audience, helping athletes physical grow while also implementing psilocybin dosing.

Per The Colorado Sun report, the documentary focuses on two different aspects of psychedelic use – ceremony and performance enhancement.

Dante: 500 Miles on Psychedelics is set to head to streaming platforms, but prior to that, there will be a lone in-person viewing session that will take place on July 11 in Colorado Springs. The screening will be held at the Ent Center of the Arts in front of up to 800 viewers, starting at 6 p.m. Tickets to the screening are priced at $22.75 and can be purchased here.
