Bear dead after getting struck by vehicle in Colorado
A bear was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Colorado city of Lone Tree on the morning of July 22, impacting traffic in the area. The announcement about the collision was released at 9 a.m.
According to the city, the bear was struck in the area of Northbound Yosemite at Heritage Kills Parkway, which went down to one lane of travel after the collision. Following the strike, the bear moved into a tree line located on the eastern side of the road.
At 12 p.m., it was announced that the bear was in the care of Colorado Parks and Wildlife, with a later 1:50 p.m. update indicating that the bear had died due to internal injuries it sustained in the crash.
No details were released related to whether or not human injuries resulted from the crash.
