The Colorado Bureau of Investigation will test its Amber Alert notification system Monday morning.
People with test alerts enabled on their devices will receive a notification at 11 a.m. Monday. The alert test feature is disabled by default on all devices, but people can choose to enroll in them.
The test is part of CBI’s expansion of its alert system, as each Wireless Emergency Alert notification will include a URL link to give Coloradans direct access to the Amber Alert or Blue Alert bulletins, which will provide more immediate information, officials said.
“One of the challenges of the WEA system is that it only provides for a maximum of 360 characters in the cellphone message, which dramatically limits the amount of information the CBI can offer in these time-sensitive situations,” CBI Director John Camper said in a release.
“The URL redirect to a site will further enhance our ability to share critical and helpful information in a timely manner.”
Coloradans can also find every CBI alert on its Twitter page.
