Things To Do
Keystone does not offer the dramatic terrain or lift-served bowl skiing of other major Colorado resorts. That being said, Keystone does offer long, winding green and blue runs, an excellent terrain park, and the most extensive night skiing in Colorado. Throw in free parking and views of Lake Dillon, and Keystone is a worthy destination. Keystone has a decidedly more laid-back atmosphere compared to the glitz of Breckenridge or Vail. The gentle terrain of Dercum Mountain is perfect for beginners and families. Children will love the numerous adventure parks, the tubing hill, and the snow fort. For the more adventurous types, Keystone features the cheapest Cat skiing around. For just $10, no reservations required, you can take a Cat ride to the top of one of Keystone’s many bowls – a great introduction to the experience.
Pro Tips
Recommended season(s): Keystone does not open first in Colorado – that title typically goes to Arapahoe Basin – but often Keystone is the one of the first resorts to open top-to-bottom with River Run, making it a good early season destination. For the best snow, visit beginning in February through early March.
