72-year-old Aurora woman run over and killed by truck
A woman pushing a walker at South Havana Street and Jewell Avenue early Tuesday morning was struck and killed by a truck, according to the Aurora Police Department.
At around 6:36 a.m. District 1 officers responded to a report of an auto-pedestrian crash.
Preliminary investigation determined the 72-year-old woman was pushing a walker crossing Jewell Avenue when she crossed in front of a GMC pickup truck stopped at a red light.
While crossing the road the woman hit a hole in the pavement and fell.
The truck then made a right hand turn southbound on Havana and ran over the woman.
Police said the 72-year-old was not using the crosswalk at the time of the incident.
Following the crash the driver stopped and is cooperating with the police in their investigation.
The woman was taken to a local hospital where she died from her injuries, according to APD.
