One dead after hit-and-run in downtown Denver Saturday

One person died after they were hit by a car in downtown Denver in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police first said they were investigating a shooting with one victim at the intersection of West 14th Avenue and North Lipan Street, just south of the Auraria Campus, on social media just before 1 a.m. Saturday.

They later clarified that the victim had been hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Investigators did not have any more information about the potential suspect or a description of the vehicle.

Authorities are investigating the incident at this time.
