Broncos’ Matt Henningson inactive for third straight game after being elevated
As expected, Broncos defensive lineman Matt Henningsen was inactive for the third straight game Sunday after being elevated.
Henningsen was elevated from the practice squad Saturday as the Broncos continued with the rewarding of players to get them a full game check. And then he wasn’t in uniform for the game against Kansas City at Empower Field at Mile High.
Also inactive for the Broncos were rookie tackle Frank Crum, ruled out Friday due to an illness, defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike, running back Blake Watson, linebacker Levelle Bailey and emergency quarterback Zach Wilson.
The Chiefs (15-1), who have wrapped up the top seed in the AFC playoff race and a first-round bye, rested their top starters on Sunday. Inactive were quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, running back Isiah Pacheco, cornerback Trent McDuffie, defensive linemen Chris Jones and George Karlaftis and tackle Jawaan Taylor.
The Broncos this season had a total of seven elevations of players from the practice squad who were then inactive. Henningsen and offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo each had three and wide receiver David Sills V had one.
Henningsen had made $12,500 per week on the practice squad. By getting three full game checks of $54,722 apiece to close the season, he pocketed an extra $126,666 with his elevations.
